The Catalyst Newsletter

Summer's best kept secrets...

A weekly newsletter to help you reach your potential and make a difference in the world.

If you live in America, happy Fourth of July and belated Juneteenth!

Summertime often comes with unique opportunities, both personally and professionally.

This summer I'll be teaching The Purpose Adventure curriculum to 200 young people at the Ron Burton Training Village.

The Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) is a testament to the remarkable life journey of Ron Burton Sr., who overcame extreme poverty and adversity to become a successful football player. Growing up in Springfield, Ohio, Burton faced numerous challenges, including the loss of his mother, an ill father, and constant teasing from his peers due to his poverty and lack of athletic talent. Despite these obstacles, Burton's determination and a chance encounter with a high school coach led him to embark on a rigorous training regimen that transformed his life. This dedication ultimately resulted in Burton becoming a high school and college All-American, earning numerous scholarships, and being drafted into professional football.

Inspired by his own experiences, Ron Burton Sr. established the Ron Burton Training Village to help underprivileged children in the Boston and New England area. The program aims to support and nurture children who seem to have no chance, offering them hope and guidance. RBTV focuses not only on physical training but also emphasizes character development, leadership skills, and academic excellence. The village creates a loving, family-like environment where every child becomes part of the RBTV family, reflecting Burton's belief that faith, integrity, and hard work are crucial elements for success in life.

The Purpose Adventure emphasizes that purpose is not a mystery to solve, but an adventure to live. The approach is broken down into three main components: Macro (understanding that purpose is bigger than oneself and involves serving others), Micro (self-discovery and awareness), and Movement (taking action to test and refine one's purpose).

Here's a little webpage and video I created to introduce myself and the curriculum to the Villagers (that's what they call the young people).

What unique summer opportunities do you have, either personally or professionally?

(Because I'm taking a five-week break from creating content, this post was largely created by Claude.ai).

Enjoy,
